Bamboo slats, parallel-sawn to equal width, can replace most of the construction timber needed to contain liquid concrete as flat formwork. The slats can be stapled to supporting elements of recomposed bamboo. After cement hardening, some surface unevenness should be possible to adjust with the plaster, usually applied for a smooth finish anyway.
