Factory work-flow trusses

After mounting both bamboo culm halves in the cradle rig, with the gussets placed in between and in the right angular position following the truss elements, secure the whole assembly with screw clamps. Drill through all these layers with a Ø3 mm bit for metal to mark the general drilling positions. Then, drill ALL elements for the truss according to the Drilling guide cross section. Note the importance of changing the bit size Ø5, 4, 3 mm!
This drilling will avoid cracking the bamboo and makes the lower bamboo act as a NUT. Enter a wood screw Ø5x50mm, with a head covering the Ø5mm drilled opening, and sink it all the way. Finally let the protruding screw enter a small cube of regular wood to work as an anvil and allow for powerful tightening.

Gussets may also be cut from pieces of marine plywood or similar high-end boards. Test loading of a prototype is recommended.For pilot projects this could be an easier solution with just jig-saw cutting the gussets to shapes. The plywood thickness could be 10 mm or even thinner after testing.
