Roof covering materials

The most common nowadays is some variety of planar elements:

Galvanized – corrugated
Coated-metal-corrosion-protected
Aluminium alloys
Tar-paper glued on board
Tiled roofs
Shingles
Reinforced concrete

Double curved roofs cannot be covered with regular planar materials, only with shingles.

Bamboo-shingles from flattened culms. Unfortunately, as exposed to rains and UV-radiation from the sun, they will not last for a long time.

With a 3D-CAD like Rhino or Microstation (Bentley) you create intuitively two different curves and make a "loft" in between them.
